Record Blood Sugar on Cell Phones with LogBookFx
I caught the buzz this month about Mobile Diabetic launching LogBookFx, a free software application for cell phones for diabetics to track blood sugar levels.Mine was a lazy Sunday anyways, hence decided to check it out myself. Since there are more cell phone users than there are PC users, hypothetically there should be more diabetics with cell phone access than a computer access, implying medical software application for cell phones surely makes sense, but this application alone leaves a lot to be desired - especially after I read about GlucoPhone - which is a blood glucometer that integrates with cell phones.
To Install on Cell-Phone:
1. Point your Cell-Phone Internet Browser to: http://www.mdiabetic.com/mobile.html
2. Next choose the LogBookFX Link, fill up your name, email address, country before the free download
3. After Download Select Run / Install
The other way is to first download the software to your PC and then transfer it to your cell using Bluetooth, Datacable, etc.
The download is small & fast. After installing I put in some trial blood glucose values - but the graph generating function gave errors. The "Carb-search" feature is pretty cool and handy, as you can see on the slide-show below. Of course, it still leaves one critical feature to be desired - the Ability to send / export / email the data to a PC / Physician for analysis - something without which this recording would not be of much use for the heath provider.

And here's how it looked on my Motorola Razr:

Post Your Comment !That's pretty cool. Way to add extra uses to a device everyone already carries.
